Well, I'd not call it "weird" but it is rather awe-inspiring.
It is strange that even though we already know the planet's basic, very inhospitable nature, there are still people dreaming about humans visiting Mars.
It's hard enough visiting the Moon and that's only a few days' travel away; and relatively easy to return from.
