If I had met John Holmes back in the late 1960's or early `70's while now pretending to turn the clock back and slip myself into the 'time and space' that surrounded John's early world of simply being popular among women, then I think the meds could have been avoided altogether. This is because the women he was 'servicing' just for fun because they were attracted to him by their own female curiosity, were not young women who were getting laid on a regular basis, typically because most of them didn't have boyfriends yet, according to the biography written of John Holmes.
@swirlie So you'd avoid the period where he likely had the HIV; good choice.

But I'm not sure that they had as tight a control over testing--if any was done--at that time. Adult Industry Medical was founded because of those issues (and died due to privacy violations)...

Yeah, I hear what you're saying, but in the very early stages of John's adult life, he was more of a status symbol to have around in certain circles of women, particularly women who were associated with monied backgrounds.

In those early days of John's career as a 'player', he was not actually charging money for his 'services' but instead thought his popularity was too much of a big joke to be taken seriously and the reaction of the women who'd be entertained by him was simply worth the car drive for him at his own expense!
