Just stumbled upon this forum. Let me get something straight first:

Are we members all logged on and gathered here in Adult Chat Rooms, reading and responding in real time like in the chat rooms of "olden times", or is this just another forum where we comment when we happen to be here?

I've read all the comments and think that some of you have never experienced a chat room, which is much like being in an arena (or on stage) with a live audience of those present in the room--all listed alongside--everyone a mix, part interested commenters and kibitzers, part cheering section if the room accommodates camming. The room's dialog streams within the room for all to view. If you haven't entered the room, there are no notifications of what's happening inside them. You don't "belong" to a room if you're not in it at the time.

What we have here seems to be a forum of forums, some having to do with discussing the old chat room life, others unrelated to chat rooms. I don't think SW has the means (or the motive) to accommodate true chat rooms, so it seems more appropriate that this forum named Adult Chat Rooms should be designated for reminiscing about the times of such sites as Yahoo Chat (or for discussion about current ones I don't know about.)

@katydidnt This is a chat room. It has a specific user interface. What you’re describing is different chat, but a chat room nonetheless. There are tons of user interfaces for chat rooms.

@Northwest Okay, I'll bow to that info that I didn't know. Yet I pine away (not tragically, just mildly) for ye olde rooms.

@katydidnt I’ve seen them all.

@NickyLee The early stages of many things seem to turn out to have been the best. Glad someone else remembers.

@katydidnt So do I. I prefer the instant interaction with people.
