Are we members all logged on and gathered here in Adult Chat Rooms, reading and responding in real time like in the chat rooms of "olden times", or is this just another forum where we comment when we happen to be here?

It's not like a giant chat room to me. More like you comment when you can and have 1 to 1 in the messages
