Calendar pages turn and the past fades away
Lost loves are forgotten and that's where they have stayed
At least to this point they have remained in the past
But a heart that I broke has reappeared at last
A beautiful surprise unexpectedly appears
Her beauty somehow forgotten with the passing of years
To gaze in those eyes brought so many thoughts back
About the one most regretted who slipped through the cracks
She treated me like a king when I deserved so much less
Holding back my emotions was an unforeseen test
In an instant regret brought forth descending tears
Hidden behind sunglasses to disguise awakened fears
Instantly realizing how badly I'd failed
To embrace the one love of my life, none compared
Couldn't look in her eyes or my tears would flow
Had to keep walking away or she surely would know
God give me one chance to change the course of my life
And let this perfect beauty fall in love with me twice
And I swear on all I cherish
If You bring her back to me
I will honor her forever with my love, guaranteed
I can only ask one favor of you, dear friend
