In The Early Light of Morning

in the still of the morning a ray of sun sneaks through the broken blinds
I stir and wipe a bit of sleep from my eye
it’s early yet and I feel you next to me
I look upon your form resting peacefully

memories of the night still excite my senses
I lay back and close my eyes as
I recall a night neither of us would ever forget
tender passions mixed with the sweetest of embrace

was our first time
seemed like it’d be forever
till we’d look upon each other face to face
but there’d be no denying of what would play out

hungry with desire
tender in exploration
words were no match
for the inevitable

making love to you
was never more sweet
with such conviction and declaration
made the night last forever

I remember our lips meeting
for the final kiss; we said goodnight
and we collapsed, exhausted
our sweat glistened bodies finally to rest
