We were doing profiles on a ditch in a sugar cane field (measuring the elevation) when we spotted this guy peaking out of the water. One guy said it was a cotton mouth, but I can’t tell from so far away. Maybe a rat snake.
I was hoping to get a shot of it swimming, but it dove out of sight.

@Tetsuya I saw a cotton mouth swimming once at work. The sun was shining through the trees and it looked like something from a nature documentary. I knew it was going too fast for me to get my phone out before it was out of site so I just enjoyed watching it for a moment.
