I Believe In Prayer

I am asking for prayer.

My brother has esophageal cancer. He has a tumor at the base of his esophagus which is preventing food from entering his stomach.

On Friday, he went into the hospital for a chemo port and feeding tube. He didn't tell anyone he was going. He was found in complete cardiac arrest and non responsive. The doctors did CPR but they asked the family to come to the hospital. He was on life support all weekend and still is.

He has suffered an anoxic brain injury. This type of injury can actually displace the brain due to lack of oxygen. Thankfully his is ok. His pupils are dilating now but he is still not responding other than that. The ICU doctors will have an EEG and MRI done today. The CAT scan was negative. He is having terrible seizures too.

I am scheduled to go on a cruise this Saturday. A long time friend is flying down on Thursday and we will leave from my home. I am just devastated and torn with guilt.

I will go home as soon as I get back. My family is staying with him around the clock.

I am asking for prayers that he come out of this for his next battle-Cancer.

@SW-User the hospital is asking for power of attorney. i believe they are going to put a trach in next.

They need someone to make decisions for him since he can’t! @akindheart

@SW-User that makes sense. i am not thinking straight.

As long as he can and is breathing fine... there will be no need for trach.... but since food can’t get to his stomach due to tumor... feeding tube is a must!@akindheart

@SW-User he has the feeding tube. he has the ventilator. he was starting to breathe some. the EEg will tell us the damage. the CAT scan, heart and lungs are fine. the brain is not displaced due to the oxygen depletion
SW-User
Oh yeah I read where you said he has the feeding tube. You mean he is on a vent with no trach? Well he may get a trach then...@akindheart

@akindheart and that’s wonderful that his pupils dialate but if no constricting, and remain dialated means brain injury!
