@Qwerty14 The established religions have stock answers. If one of those does not answer your question, you're asking the wrong question. As a christian, I was told to not question god.
@Emosaur Religion is all about thinking. It is philosophy. You say the abrahamic religions are against thinking but that just isn't the case. People spend their lives studying these religions. People go to church for answers and guidence. There are schools and groups who discuss and debate these books.
@Emosaur Yeah they get brainwashed. In fact a guy gets out a spinning umbrella and makes them all sleepy. It is quite something. Trust me if brainwashing worked then I'm sure the first people they'd use it on would be people like us
@Qwerty14 Bad experiences weren't what caused me to stop believing in christianity, most of those were the result of trying to get away from it. I stopped believing as a result of reading the bible and seeing how it is just a collection of myths and superstitions.
@Qwerty14 I stopped believing in the christian god. A lot of teachings attributed to Jesus were taken from older beliefs so they're not really "christ's teachings".
@Qwerty14 I've yet to see a christian back up their claims with evidence. All christianity is based on blind faith, denying all evidence contrary to its claims.
You're trying to show that by, coincidentally, agreeing with some of the things christianity requires, I'm really a closet christian. Like I said, I've met those games before.
@suzie1960 You said it, not me. I'm not trying to do anything. You can't be a "closet Christian" as you put it. The most important thing about religion is self identification. If you don't consider yourself Christian then that's enough to not be one.
I was merely wanting to find out what examples you had to back up your claim.
@Qwerty14 You started by talking about christ's teachings, perhaps you could say what they are - backed up by evidence that they originate from him of course.
@suzie1960 I never made the claim that they are original. You made the claim they aren't. That means the burden of proof is on you.
If you don't have any just say. I don't really care if you do or not. You have got so defensive it is clear you're uncomfortable. You can just stop the convo here.
@Qwerty14 You referred to "christ's teachings". Unless they originate from him, they're not his so the burden of proof is on you to show that they are. As I said, I've yet to see a christian present any evidence to back up their claims. The evidence that they don't originate with Jesus is in the teachings of almost every other religion as, other than Islam, they're older than christianity.
