I Think Indoctrinating Children With Religion Is Child Abuse

I've been talking to a bisexual boy who is also a Christian lately.
I didn't know about it at first, but when he asked me if I believed in God and I replied with "no", he made me realize how religious people are pretty much victims of an ideology.
I couldn't resist and asked him if his family accepted him for who he is, turned out he doesn't even accept himself. He's so convinced of the idea that his entire life is a sin, it honestly hurts just thinking about how there are people spending their entire lives believing in all the teachings of their religion even if they're directly against them.
I hope one day enough people will realize how harmful many religions are fundamentally so that eventually they will be considered nothing more than mythologies.

I hear what you're saying and agree to an extent ... There are done good moral guidance ideas in there, but the potential fit a lot of harm also

@Emosaur I agree that you don't need religion to be a good person... But right now the only ethical training you get is via Early exposure to religion ... And just because you don't agree with everything someone days, doesn't mean there is no truth hidden amongst the words

@Emosaur just to be clear, I'm not religious and I'm gay ... But when you look objectively at some of the rules they are often just common sense, things about hygiene and not marrying your sister
