The newly appointed Archbishop of Canterbury

is taking a 6-days walking holiday whilst more than half of her flock is still absolutely clueless about her

"As I prepare for my installation at Canterbury Cathedral, it feels deeply humbling to be following in the footsteps of those who have walked this ancient route. I’m looking forward to visiting local churches, cathedrals, and holy sites along the route, and to meeting people, praying with them and hearing their stories. As I walk this path I will be praying for our Church and our world and asking God to bless those we meet. Every Christian life is a pilgrimage, a journey with God. As I begin this new chapter in my own life and ministry, I am grateful to be walking with God and with others."

How is
visiting local churches, cathedrals, and holy sites along the route, and to meeting people, praying with them and hearing their stories.
taking a holiday? She's meeting people, which is what you want isn't it?

I am not an Anglican and I know a lot about her: she's been all over the news and the division her appointment is causing has been well covered.

@val70 Well, I hope you will be blessed in that. I follow the politics of the Christian Church (of all denominations) with despair as all institutions end up squabbling over the same issues and that's what gets into the media and detracts from the proclamation of the Gospel and neuters the prophetic voice it is tasked to use. Having said that, I am a fully committed member of a recognised denomination so am part of the problem. 🙄

@FreddieUK Sarah is visiting Aylesford Priory. I found solace there when my first wife became ill and I her carer.

It is a great place for prayer and reflection.

@FreddieUK The sad thing about all these arguments is that they are so shallow, and have no real theological basis.

She is not "taking a holiday".

Even I know that, and I am not religious although from a lightly Anglican background.

She and her husband are taking a pilgrimage, a walk with a religious purpose and along an ancient pilgrims' route; and I wish her and her flock well.

As you know I have met Sarah, she is the most accessible of the four Archbishops Ive met.

She has a very difficult job to do, not helped by Misogynist Nigerian Bishops, woke Bishopesses, and Bishops who have protected paedophiles.

Let us keep Sarah in our prayers, that she will be guided by the Holy Spirit in the work she has to undertake.

Now back to my Lenten Fast, where I have given up social media.

@peterlee Look Robert, it's slipping away from her. Talking to six female bishops from Africa online and not even saying anything of what's happening to the broader church because of her, well, that's telling. I pray for the church. Good luck with Lenten!
From the description, it looks more like a "working" holiday, rather than a walking one.
