I Am A Fan Of Winston Churchill

Nicholas Soames is a British politician who also happens to be the grandson of Winston Churchill.

As a young boy, Soames knew little about his grandfather's fame and stature and he recounted the time he walked into Sir Winston's bedroom and asked him about it:

"Is it true, grandpapa, that you are the greatest man in the world?"

"Yes, I am," Mr. Churchill replied. "Now bugger off."

When asked why he takes bathes instead of showers, “Why stand,when I can sit.”
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@MrBrownstone Lol. He was incredibly witty.

I did a post sometime ago of funny quotes by famous people. As I recall, I included more quotes by Churchill than anyone else.

Not a very nice man by all accounts but he had more backbone then than the entire house of commons does today.

@SW-User Yes, he and 21 other MPs were kicked out of the Conservative Party for not siding with BoJo (BlowJo?) on Brexit. Soames announced afterward that he wouldn't be running for office in the next election.

@JohnOinger I don't know a lot about the British economy. I think someone from the UK can probably answer that better than I can

@Rutterman Thank you for reminding me of my Steely man....as you might remember, I absolutely adore Churchill coz he has influenced my childhood and school years as a leader and persistent optimist. 🙌

Thanks for reminding me when I needed it. 😏

@Vivaci You're welcome, dear. 🤗

Churchill has been proclaimed "The Greatest Briton Ever". I find it hard to argue with that.
@Rutterman Absolutely no one else could have won the war, when there was defeat banging on his door....

And that too single-handedly. 🤗

@SW-User 😄
As a product of colonialism, he had a few less than charitable beliefs about the native people in Britain’s “empire”.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard He was a flawed man, to be sure, but I think his accomplishments greatly outweigh the negative things about him.
