I find a lot of church people are very judgemental and it puts me off going there. Should we be given sermons? I believe in individual choice about religion

I get what you mean, and do believe the devout are judgmental; however, most regular (whatever regular means) believers who go to church, aren't that way. Or at least that's what I've found, not that I attend church, or am a believer. Going to church sort of implies you are a believer, and are there to be preached at/taught the ways of that particular faith, so if you go, you probably have to expect some preachin' 馃榾
@TexChik And now we hear from the peanut gallery... obviously full of nuts. You know, I hate that you use "Tex" in your screen name - over the years I've known, worked with, fought alongside and lived with quite a number of Texans, and most of them were great people, smart, and had sharp minds. You sully their image.
@frequentlyme that鈥檚 not it at all , you just don鈥檛 like being reminded what a loathsome individual you are . But don鈥檛 worry , I won鈥檛 let you forget . 馃憤馃徎
@TexChik What's not it? Look, what you think of me, or for that matter, anything, means squat. So enjoy your fun little games, they are quite revealing... of a small, unimaginative mind.
@prettyflamingo Because, I assume, those doing the preaching think they know better than us, and/or know more than us. It's what they do to make their small world feel safe and meaningful. Me, I respect and can admire someone with devout beliefs... right up until they start preaching at me.
