Try reading the opening Chapters theologically.,It will explain the Fall and Sin very simply. Also how this affects your relationship with God and prayer.
Of course, if you want a Scientific textbook. Read one on Quantum Mechanics, followed by the General Theory of Relitivity. Improve your knowledge of Matrices and Vector calculus first. Is that what you are expecting to find in Genesis, seventeen pages of complex maths elucidating current theories of the beginning of space time as we know it, and is probably wrong?
I personally stick to the first. I understand what the writer is getting at. And yes my degree is in Theoretical Physics. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God.
