In the city of Tehran, there are murals dedicated to Mary the mother of Jesus, and Jesus himself.
This is because in Islam, Jesus (Isa) and Mary (Maryam) are profoundly respected figures. Jesus is a major prophet and the Messiah, while Mary is celebrated as the greatest and most pious of all women.
The Virgin Birth: Islam upholds the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus. The angel Gabriel (Jibril) told Mary she would bear a holy child. She is praised for her absolute chastity, deep faith, and devotion to God.
Status as a Prophet: Jesus is revered as one of God's greatest messengers and the Messiah (al-Masih), sent specifically to the Children of Israel with a holy revelation called the Injil (Gospel).
While, there are many differences between Christianity and Islamic beliefs, they are also both coming from the same root.
Christianity, Islam, and Judaism were all created in this small region. We all have much more in common than we think.
