The Heart of the Gospel - The Church, Bought with Blood: A Testament to Christ's Sacrifice
I rejoice in my spirit, when I think of the Blood Bought Church. Acts 20:28-31
Church, is not the description of a building, in scripture. It describes "a body of believers" whom gather together in fellowship for the purpose of learning about, worshiping, and praising God.
The Bible says not to forsake ourselves from assembling together in God's Church. God understands when some cannot make it to church or are too disabled to do so, but praise God, they can take advantage of church services via satellite on TV or even listen by radio.
While the word "ransom" is used in relation to Jesus's death, meaning a price paid, it's not a transaction where God is buying something from another entity. Instead, it's about redeeming humanity from sin's power and consequences.
Atonement means Jesus' sacrifice was, and is, a substitutionary atonement; meaning he took the penalty for our sins, upon himself. This allows for the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God.
Jesus' death established a "New Covenant" between God and humanity, where forgiveness is offered through faith in Jesus's sacrifice. He was approved and appointed by God the Father, to be Savior of the world. John 3:16
Paul, as he was leaving the church in Ephesus, said to its elders, "Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood" (Acts 20:28).
Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it, but to save us from the condemnation that sin placed on us. John 3:17
We are the redeemed children of God (Ephesians 1:13-14). Christ paid with his own blood, the price to remove our sins. Whosoever believes in Jesus and trusts that He has answered your prayer to forgive your sins, and has washed them away by His precious blood to eternal life in heaven, shall... by their faith and because of God's grace and Jesus' work on the cross, stand before their Father in heaven, declared "Not guilty!".
Jesus did not purchase our sins. He came to take away our sins and purchased the forgiveness of our sins, so that we could be restored to right standing with our Heavenly Father.
The wages (payment for sin), is death! Romans 6:23. But the GOOD NEWS is that if we will repent and allow Jesus to forgive our sins, He promises to cleanse us (our heart) of all unrighteousness, remember our sins no more, obliterate our sins that very second, and set us free from sin's threat of eternal condemnation...And when Jesus sets us free, we are [bfree indeed![/b] Our sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus, and we are REDEEMED! Transformed by the Holy Spirit into a brand new creation, and given a brand new life in Christ!!! Brought to forgiveness and justification, because of Christ's atoning sacrifice... Just as if you had never sinned in your life!!!
Through faith in Jesus, individuals are freed from the power and consequences of sin. This includes not only forgiveness of our sins, but also a transformed life and freedom from sin's dominion. Jesus became a sin offering, not sin itself. This means that through his sacrifice, sin's power over humanity is broken, and reconciliation with God becomes possible.
This is what Jesus did for you and so much more. What have you done for him?
Believers, value the precious promises (1Peter 1:4). Value our precious faith (1Peter 1:7). Value the precious blood (1Peter 1:19).
