I hate to say this, but I would not recommend this film. The crew of The Chosen, claim the film is accurate, however as I watched it, I realize yes, it was designed with drama to appeal to the crowds to get them in, but there's a big difference between that and claiming their depiction is biblically accurate and sound. It is not. There were many incidences which contradicted scripture. I don't think God appreciated that because he says in Revelation, that whoever adds or takes away from His Word, shall be cursed. This is why I love Mel Gibson's Christian movies. He strictly abides by scripture, not adding or taking away from God's Holy Word. I have yet to see any contradictions to God's Word in his films, and look how God has blessed him. He helped us understand each and every character, adding their experience with Christ. I love that he kept true to scripture in that way. He kept the film precise without the need to go into their everyday lives throughout the day. I feel the sole reason filmmakers dramatized the film and Bible, was purely for self-satisfaction in the need for greed. Otherwise, they would have made it biblically accurate. Instead, I recommend The Passion and his new film which I'm sure he will not stray from the truth of the gospel, The Last Supper, plus an older one called Jesus of Nazareth. What a Beautiful film.

@LadyGrace I believe that they wanted to pro long the whole series. More episodes more views, more money.
But if I were to make a movie, I will dedicate 20 minutes to half an hour to an hour to each Chapter of each book of Bible rather than adding something to it.
@DanielsASJ It's the motive that counts, to God.

@LadyGrace Jesus of Nazareth is a beautiful movie. Passion of Christ is also beautiful. Those were the days when they strictly followed The Bible in their storyline, as close as possible.
@DanielsASJ Amen. And other Christian films in the past like The Robe and The Ten Commandments, were biblically accurate so there's no need to add fantasy in order to fill pockets.

@LadyGrace This is the entry scene of Jesus Christ in The Chosen and I find Jesus talking to Mary in "a Bar" in all respects and if you look at this still scene from it, it has 2 cross shaped lanterns and I don't get it why they wanted it this way already. At that moment, the relevance of Cross was unknown to the world before the crucification. So, that's a not very good depiction according to me atleast.

@DanielsASJ Yes, nowhere in scripture does it indicate or even hint that Mary Magdalene was in a bar. Therefore, in the first episode of The Chosen, where Mary Magdalene is depicted as being in a BAR when she encounters Jesus for the first time, is not only totally inaccurate, but a fictional and deliberate lie from the Devil. He loves to portray God and His own, as sinful, when His character is anything but sinful. He does not lie and he cannot err.

Right... have you ever seen a bar with a cross in front? Highly unlikely. 🙄

Mary Magdalene is one of the women who traveled with Jesus and helped support his ministry.

In the Gospels, Mary Magdalene is the first of the disciples to witness the miracle of the resurrection.

The Bible DOES name Mary Magdalene as a witness to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. She was also one of the women who traveled with Jesus and helped support his ministry. The Bible does not even hint at Mary Magdalene being Jesus' wife.
