Debunking the myth that Islam spread by the sword !

You often hear people say
“Islam spread by the sword”
And when you ask them why do they say such thing
They will mention historic empires / conquests led by people of the Muslim faith .

And that’s pretty fair to be honest , but then do not be a hypocrite.
If that is the basis then definitely Christianity paganism and every other ideology was spread by the sword.

When Islam emerged in the 600s the concept of empires ALREADY existed. So people of different ethnic groups who followed Islam at that time followed the rules of their time and similarly ended up creating empires and dynasties.

Before Islam ,
You already had the persian empire which was Zoroastrian by religion they conquered so many lands including ARAB lands .
Aksum empire which was an Ethiopian Christian empire annexed many lands including even Yemen
Assyrian empire
the Roman Empire
and far more

There is no such thing as “Islamic” empires .
Don’t play this nasty word game to portray a unique picture of Muslims.

The more accurate thing to say is
“ There were empires who their leader was of Muslim faith.”
Just like there were empires who their leader was of Christian Jewish Hindu etc faiths

there is no such thing as “Muslim” empires

You had ARAB empires (ummayd, Abbasid , Fatimid etc)
Who their leader/ founder was Muslim

You had TURKIC empires (ottoman , Seljuks , mughal etc ) who their leader was Muslim

You had MONGOL (Ilkhanids etc ) their leader was Muslim

You had AMAZIGHS ( Almoravids and Almohads) who their leader were Muslim

You say the BRITISH empire not the Christian empire
You say the FRENCH empire not the Christian empire
You say the ROMAN empire not the pagan/ Christian empire
You say the PORTUGUESE empire not the Catholic empire
You say the SPANISH empire not the Catholic empire

You say the Byzantine empire not the Christain empire
You say the Mongolian empire not the tengirism empire
You say the Sassanian empire not the Zoroastrian empire
You say the maurya empire not the Hinduism empire

You say the Han empire not the the Confucianism empire

You say the Qing dmpire not the Confucianism empire

You say the Aztec empire not the pagan empire

You say the carolingian empire and not the christain empire

You say the empire of Japan and not the shinto empire

All of these conquered other lands and peoples .

So in summary:

* don’t be a hypocrite and a liar

* empires are ascribed to the ethnic group of their founder not the religion of the founder

* in history almost all ethnic groups and religions created empires even from the same ethnic group.

For instance Persians of different religions created empires .

Persian empires founded by a Zoroastrian :

And

Persian empire founded by a Muslim :

Again, true to say that there was a Golden Age of Islam when its people and scholars played a large part in both preserving reviving the heritage of Greece. This when we (euro-centric people) tend to speak of the dark ages

Thanks.
