Depends on the country the Muslims come from. Albanian Muslims all work in pizza joints and hate each other, so fight at work and go meet others to make friends. It's instant assimilation, faster than any group I've ever seen. Albanians are also thr most pro-American of Muslims, except the Kurds.
For every Muslim insisting on following Sharia Law as best they can while living in infidel America, you have one running a corner liqour store. There isn't a nationality of Islam that has failed to do this, but it seems to be a rule amongst Yemeni. I knew a Imam out in San Francisco who spent half his time traveling the bay area trying to get them to sell something, anything other than liqour. A few added a few small bags of potato chips. They intergrate pretty well with the black community (they like to sell individual cigarettes to them). White community less so. A yemeni family where I lived in West Virginia kept isolated, daughter in law refused to have male english tutors (me and a few other guys) but they were part of the community and accepted by us, but there was some worry they would open up a mosque (they kept teying to buy a greek orthodox church saying it looked like a mosque and it pissed the greeks off). In the end their teenage son/ grandson moved to Mexico with some migrants illegally. He had a greencard for the US, and the family owned a chain of gas stations and small groceries.
Alot of Muslims from India do IT work. Easy to spot, they wear cricket sports shirts and DON'T have a image of Krishna handing from their rearview mirror.
Big problem is first generation immigrants don't want their moo cow wives walking around so they will take a job like a live in hotel manager and will watch their wives 24/7. I've seen this alot. Women just grow fat and never leave, and stay covered indoors behind the feont desk as a kid crawls around behind them. Again, doesn't happen if they have a picture of Ganesha up. The Hindu women can go out and explore. Just Muslims get tied down with this.
If it is a college professional they blend in pretty well. If it is a Turk they calm their outrageous hairstyles down, and blend in pretty well. Alot get into Harley Davidson Motorcycles and the riding culture. They always try to look a cool guy, but America doesn't try as hard as they do in Turkey.
@Askeladd Nope. Most want about as much to do with it as a catholic wants with canon law. They pick and choose what they want from Sharia. Usually just banking rules (but even then most flaot it and use interest based banking), islam has the highest rate of male homosexuality I've seen period of any religion outside of a few gay cults, and in general they apply the no pork rule. It's not the end of the world if they mess up and accidently eat pork in America, but I haven't met one het who hasn't gone out of their way to dodge it.
They do try to enforce their women (second generation born here) from dating and marrying outside of the religion. It happens. Not too much of a honkr killing threat from Pakistani dad.
My God Mother had nearly a Muslim god daughter (technically not because of religion) from Syria, she was a white, blue eyed blonde. Her mother was a german ambassador to syria. She intergrated well, was practically my sister (two or three years older than me). We'd watch videos of people in Syria getting married, having swords juggled around her. She ended up getting divorced from her crappy muslim husband (a doctor) moved to florida and married some doctor who was a MP in Lebanon's Parliament. They jump between America and Lebanon very easily.
Also you gotta factor in the muslims in the levant act like Greeks with their public dancing festivals. Most areas (even rural west virginia) have lebanese food festivals, and all muslims go to them with christians everywhere.
Muslims from Pakistan intergrate the worst. Always expect some scam or double cross. Albanian the best. I'm not joking aboht them all working in Pizza places. Iranians try to blend in and call themselves Persians, embarrassed to be called Iranians. One of my favorite singers, Azam Ali gave up and moved to Canada because she didn't like the negativity Iranians face, but the ones just calling themselves persians blend in well, and the Bahai and Zoroastrians have no issue being Iranians in America.
Azeri..... never met a open American Azeri, they hate America. Met plenty of Iraqi, they blend in. I stay in contact with a few Iraqi archeologists and philosophers who know I was a soldier and don't care. They understand the US alot better from the occupation, sorta like how Vietnam grasps US culture.
Kuwait.... rare they come. Met two built like giants. They have no accents. Qatar.... they are snakey people. Into luxury goods, closet homosexuals, easy to spot lies. Like outdoor activities, they all do frisby in the park.
Morocco always has been US friendly, first country in middle east to reclgnize US independence, first embassy too. Egyptians usually blend in well, I screw with them saying Cairo and Gaza will soon be unified into one municipality once the Nile River dries up from Ethiopia daming the river up.
Ethiopians blend in well, been to a couple ethipopian restaurants. Muslims and christians work together. I don't know if the blood drinking tribes are christian, pagan or muslim, been meaning to ask them about what the blood drinkers do when their women get periods.
Sudan never met in US. Libya never met. Met a few algerians, they are worst than the French. Never met anyone from Mali or Eritrea I can think of. Indonesians are pretty gay. Knew a Greek then Syrian Christian Orthodox Priest from Indonesia, he knew of more indonesians around than I did.
Um..... Uzbeks all work night shifts buffing floors. Janitor service companies really like them.

Never met anyone from Chad. I know some Swahili people from the great lakes region, they also speak French but unlike Algerians don't have a French cultural superiority complex. Never met a swahili person from the coast.
Malaysians like their fake purses and bootleg goods. Met one vietnamese Muslim, was a shop lifter.
Jordanians I know just two, and they were both intergrating well but were very opposite personality types. Seemed only trait they shared was bookish.
Bahrain, lock up the silver, will steal from you. Never met someone from Oman that I know of. Met a few Tunesians, they blend in well. Asked where their accent was from, said Carthage, so they don't admit to being Tunesians. Where else?
US military has a number of muslims in, 99% do well. I've seen a few convert to Islam, one as early as Basic Training (saw no oddity or contradiction in joining US Army at war with a islamic country and immediately converting to Islam). Most of the guys I knew had a bad attitude towards anything they were allowed to openly have a bad attitude to openly, and they played alot of chess. Middle eastern guys, not the white converts or black muslims.
Oh, Somali.... I'd rather not talk about that. They are around and case a shitshow, lrobably the worst intergrated group we have, which is weird as part of somalia was a british or italian colony and they have been long exposed to western culture.
IslamOnline used to host a virtual Mecca on Second Life (a 3D virtual world).
I walked around it comparing the Hadj route to pics online, but they also had a little library with downloadable PDFs. A few guys in that area were into Sharia Law. I think one edited islamonline. It wasn't a place I could find on second life the last few times I logged on so it is gone.
But just how into it consistently is another. You can't really pull off living by all the Fatwas living in a Muslim country, much less in America. It's hard being a Muslim in America if you have a Fatwa saying you can eat a Mermaid but the only thing you can find is "Chicken of the Sea".
Oh.... our largest private achool system in America is run by turks opposed to Erdogan, they are a rival faction and the leader has to be guarded round the clock by security here in PA incase Erdogan tries to assassinate him. Erdogan's faction doesn't really exist in America, they beat up on the Greeks, Kurds, Armenians etc. We mostly get the secular, liberal Ataturks. It's weird, they hear me talking of anatolian history mentioning greek cities and get all excited sayijg they know those places, and feel a connection to greek history and in the back of my head I'm thinking it's weird as your ancestors killed them all.
@Dignaga Albanian Muslims are Muslim in name only. The Kosovo Muslims are closer to real Muslims. And BTW thanks for the shout out to Albanian Muslims .
