It's a little after 7 am

At 8 we'll all be awake

At 9 we go to the car, i like to get there a few minutes earlier to have some precious alone time

We get there at about quarter to 10, service starts at 10:30, i keep reading inside the car till a little after 10

Nice door greeter is very friendly, he has seen me smoking, and is still kind

I come in more greeters, sometimes i have to tell them who my dad is and then they all go awwww, and i'm like internally goddamn right awww

Then i bee line to the pew where a Cambodian couple sits next to us, the woman of that couple is the friendliest person to me, she is just so overjoyed to see me, like why??!! My dad pastored at their Cambodian church for a time, he partnered up with a guy who GASP doesn't believe in the Rapture, dad often tells me he's gonna have to set him straight

so i sit in the pew reading my kindle usually a Reformed book to get me in the mood, The Synods of Dort is Purrrrfect, as it highlights the differences between the Reformed and other mainline Christianity, our church isn't Reformed.

and then the worship team starts up, we all stand for 3 songs, sometimes they make me think, but the words shown from a projector is often not synced with the singing, so i just stand because sitting for a whole hour does a number on my back

announcements, awkward humor from speaker

offering combined with more singing

then the sermon, time to switch to the ESV Study bible on the kindle, last time i took notes right on the kindle to keep myself occupied

last song, bee line to the car, glance at a picture with mom in it on the dashboard, sigh a sigh of relief, read a bit, when we leave we get some grub, i'm so ecstatic that it's over that i read out loud animatedly, cuz i do NOT want to hear what he'll talk about, get home, stretch out in bed.

Next Sunday is communion, where i heap burning coals onto my soul.

I do this for my dad, it makes him happy.

Interesting to know your routine! My wife and I usually arrive at the last minute before service, but if there is time, we will introduce ourselves to the people next to us.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Like the sound of that, we're a bit too chummy here, and i feel selfish keeping to myself. It was good today, i'm learning to see it optimistically a time to get out. :)
@SW-User If you mean time out of the house, what a great way!
