I used to wonder if cult leaders really believed their BS or were pretending to scam. I think it's both. People's cognitive dissonance can get pretty intense.

Nope. Looks to me like a cult leader uses religion as a front for their own personal gain. I doubt most people like Jim Jones really believe what they're preaching
@caPnAhab Some of it maybe. I get the feeling they convince themselves they are super special though and that what they are doing is for the greater good somehow.
