@Diotrephes I get the moral significance and if Jesus was real which I doubt from numerous evidence, I would say I feel sad that the guy does that to himself. On the other hand no pun intended, I do see it as kind of unnecessary pain on yourself for no reason.

The guy says that he has benefitted from his repetitive ordeals but that he is now ready to stop because of declining health. I wonder if he would have had the same success if he had gone without food and water for forty consecutive days and nights like Jesus did, but over a 35 year time span?

@Diotrephes Since he admitted his health declining I doubt he'd be successful. I think when he says he benefits it's mostly a mental high made up in his mind at the thought of suffering like Jesus did with the intention that Jesus sees what he does.

Crucification continually would have the body constantly inflamed due to the trauma inflicted on it, his health wouldn't be in decline if he had decided not to do it.
