If you insist on giving away money, then give it to a charity— a local children’s hospital, cancer research, library… somewhere it can do some good

It's best to give the money to one's own family members, especially if they have kids.

@Diotrephes The Bible says to give to the needy to the poor and to the widows. That's what we are commanded to do.

You don't give widows younger than sixty anything because they can get married again. And you don't give sinners anything. And if you are a Christian you don't accept money from non-believers (Gentiles). Read the fairytale.

@DarlingLinds Why widows specifcally? Surely the class of widows includes women who are not poor so why should they receive charity? If they should not then it is sufficient to say 'give to the needy'.
@ninalanyon because historically being a woman who'd lost the head of the household was an extremely vulnerable position
A single man without a disability was expected to earn money

@AbbySvenz the church is supposed to disperse money to local agencies that need the money or help. My church runs a food pantry.

@DarlingLinds What about widowers with children? Why not help them too?
