I hate it when religious people act like bigots 😪

Recently an earthquake hit Morocco and a storm hit Libya and the result was destruction of many buildings and a big death toll.
Now I’m not from either countries but I was glad to see a lot of religious people on social media sending their prayers.
But then you also have this type of bigot religious people :

Because libya & Morocco are majority Muslim nations ,
There were many Christians claiming it’s a punishment from God.
It’s so hypocritical because natural disasters hit majority Christian countries too.
And many churches got destroyed by natural disasters throughout history so
It’s a very hypocritical way of thinking
And doesn’t support the idea of your religion being the right one.

The Quran (the religious book of Muslims )
Also states the following :

Ali 'Imran - Verse 139-140
{
So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.
If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers }

The verses talk about how God alternates conditions between humans and nations (regardless of their faith)
As a test If you’d be thankful when he blesses you
And would you remain faithful when he tests you.
Plus in Islam dying innocently under debris makes you a martyr.

It is all a bit confusing to any human mind/heart that presumes that their very own concepts and experiences relate to the "true" God, and the concepts and experiences of any other is misguided and false.

The slide into bigotry is a constant danger.

As the ancient Vedas says:- Thou are formless - your only form is our knowledge of You

This written at the same time that some OT writings seemed to imagine God riding around in a chariot and chucking giant hailstones down upon His enemies!

And then you get the old Christian hymn about the "heathen in his blindness bows down to wood and stone"

😀
