I'd say it's more of a nationalist idea; throughout history, nations & their leaders have been using religion as a means to unite and distinguish themselves from the "enemy" and have a motive to fight. It's not just a Christian idea for sure. I guess if Christian nationalism was mostly about the religion then christian nations would want to unite somehow.

@HannibalAteMeOut beautiful point!

@HannibalAteMeOut Christian nationalism? There is no such thing. All western nations, especially the US, have secular governments. They practice separation of church from state. Don't blame Christianity.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@sree251 I don't blame Christianity or any religion. I blame the leaders. Sure they are secular in name but in practice not all of them are. I'm from Europe and in my country's constitution it's written: "The official religion is that of the Eastern Orthodox Church of Christ". The government meets up with the religious leaders. Religious holidays are national holidays. In every classroom there is the icon of Jesus and every school day starts with the "our father" prayer. These are just some examples off the top of my head. It's not a theocracy, but still the separation between the church and the state isn't really clear and that's not just in my country.
Don't talk to me about "all western nations" and don't put words in my mouth. Of all the people on this thread I did not insult christianity and just presented objective facts.

] @sree251 if the US is a secular country,
Why are individuals spending a great deal of time and money on manipulating the courts ?
If you aren’t familiar……then google Leonard Leo

@SW-User Manipulating the courts? Do you mean putting Christians on the Highest Court in the land? You have got the Executive and the Legislative branches running the country. What more do you want?

SW-User
@sree251 a secular state…like the founding fathers wanted.🤪
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SW-User The founding fathers were Christians. Secularism is an insidious subversive movement to destabilize Christian societies.

@sree251 check your facts, no they weren’t
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SW-User You want the facts? Here they are:
Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration, the great majority, perhaps all, identified themselves as Christians, and all but one were Protestants. Four were either present or former ministers, and a number of the signers were the sons of clergy. At least half of them had studied “divinity” at their various universities. The denominations breakdown runs as follows: 32 of the signers, well over half, were Episcopalians, or Anglicans, the old state Church of England. There were 13 Congregationalists, 12 were Presbyterians. There were two Quakers, two Unitarians, and one Roman Catholic. (Gregory Elder. Redland Daily Facts.)

Heard this, for years.
By tradition, I am an Episcopalian, does a denomination make a believer?

@SW-User Just because you don't, that doesn't meant that they were also dirty rotten scoundrels. Who are you? Everybody thinks that he is the final word on anything. This is why the US is going down the drain. Every son of an ass in Congress thinks he speaks for the nation. And this attitude is adopted by donkeys with attitude.

@sree251 I dislike the US government as well.
It’s for much the same reason.
Our representative democracy is a charade.
The elected ultimately in the interests of the business interests that placed them there.
Who am I ? I am nobody from nowhere. I identify as a meat sack.
Believe your myths, I won’t stop you.

@SW-User Everybody dislikes the US government; and yet, it is able to exert control over everybody. Is this not tyranny? How come we believe the US government and support it's continual aggression against tyrants in foreign wars that has bled the nation of trillions of dollars? We are the US government, and yet, we see it as separate from us. Can you figure out this puzzle?

@sree251 it’s my understanding that money and natural resources are involved.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SW-User Of course, money and natural resources are involved. We have created money to facilitate the acquisition and distribution of natural resources. Government is the system that regulates the flow of the economy (i.e. money and natural resources). How are we doing? Did we get it right?

One to make sure no religion is favoured over another and no crazy religious ideas influence laws.
"Christian societies" don't exist they would require for every citizen to be christian. What does exists are countries dominated by a certain religion and those that have a state-religion and how that turns out is visible in the middle east.

Count the military bases and note where they are located.
We have done well for the plutocrats.

@Gloomy You need to travel more. Thailand is a Buddhist society, lots of western expats living the good life there without having to bow to Buddha. It's the same in the USA with churches in every town from coast to coast. It is as Christian as a country can get; and yet, no one is required to worship Jesus.
