No matter your denomination, what is the most terrible sin a person can commit?

Religion has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. Jesus didn't die for one particular religious group; He died to save each and every individual in this world, from the condemnation sin placed on us. He is not willing that any should miss heaven. He loves us all the same. John 3:16 and 17.

Sin is sin. God does not categorize it. In His eyes, all sin is equally as serious, as all sin keeps us separated from God the Father, until we confess our sins to Jesus and ask Him to forgive us. He then, goes to His Father in heaven on our behalf, asking Him to grant our prayer for forgiveness of sins, which His Father does, as promised. He turns no one away, who wants Him in their hearts and lives as their Savior.

One sin, however, the sin of deliberately rejecting God and His Son; refusing the gift God freely offers us of salvation in Jesus Christ....this is the only sin that God cannot forgive, because we are rejecting the Holy Spirit’s witness about Jesus as Savior, and claiming the Holy Spirit is telling a lie. (See Mark 3:28-29.) This is called the "unpardonable sin".

Have you sought God’s forgiveness for all your sins? I did, and Jesus saved me, just as He promised. Don’t trust yourself or your own goodness for your salvation—for none can ever earn their way to heaven through good works or deeds. It is only by God's grace, through faith in His Son, Jesus, that we can be saved:

Acts 4:12 - "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

God said if we are to be saved, we must accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, and trust in Him alone, for our salvation. Our sin is great—but God’s grace is much greater. John 6:40 “And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one which seeks the Son and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life in heaven: and I will raise him up at the last day. ”

The worst sin? Not appreciating you were born and being a person who commits the act of self deprecation. You are given the inherent strength of worth and goodness. Failure to accept it IMO is a sin.
@soar2newhighs Well there are many sins, but the unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
@LadyGrace You can be forgiven, but can you forgive yourself?
@soar2newhighs You cannot be forgiven for the unpardonable sin that's why it's called that. The Bible says so.
@LadyGrace I respectfully disagree. That’s what Jesus was about. He forgave on the cross, those who persecuted him.
@soar2newhighs then you're disagreeing with God because He said in His Word that that was the one unforgivable sin. The one and only.
@soar2newhighs I do understand where you're coming from, my friend, but I believe there's a lot more entailed in blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, than we know.
@LadyGrace I go back to my response about Jesus. I am content in that belief and I trust in it.
@soar2newhighs okay but I just don't know how you can go against what God's word says about it. It's very clear in the Bible.
@LadyGrace The Bible, the new and old testaments said many things. And much of what is and was in them is disputed.
@soar2newhighs Yes, but that's not because God's Word is contradictory or with error. It is disputed among men, but God cannot make a mistake. The Bible is the most wonderful book in the world. It not only tells us the past history but it also tells us what's going to happen in the future and no other book can do that with 100% accuracy. All of God's prophecies, to date, have all come to pass. And all of his future prophecies shall do the same. It is a 100% reliable work of the Holy Spirit. Not man, and that's why we can rely on it. It is 100% trustworthy.

It is man that messes up the meaning and twists things around and makes people believe the Bible is not accurate, but has contradictions and such, and that is just not true. A perfect God such as the Lord God Almighty, who is perfect in every way and cannot sin, does not sin, never sins, and is no liar, did not hand down His own Word to us, with flaws, errors, or contradictions. That is what some people say and that is a devil's lie.

The Smithsonian Department of Anthropology said this about the Bible (referring to history).

"Much of the Bible, in particular the historical books of the old testament, are as accurate historical documents as any that we have and are, in fact, more accurate than many of the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, or Greek histories. These Biblical records are used, as are other ancient documents in archeological work. For the most part, historical events described, took place, and the peoples cited, really existed."
