Religion does offer some value [I Respect Religion]

I don't believe in the existence of spirit, God or heaven. Still, I admire the optimism the religious embody in terms of eternal life. I just think they got the explanation for it totally wrong. I also like all the wonderful charitable work they do. They're mostly good people, and I have no hatred of them. It bothers me that many atheists fixate on ridiculing them and demanding proof.

Please, this is not the place to list atrocities done in the name of religion. We already see enough of that. Peace!

I’ve seen how faith has helped some people survive very difficult times and I would never dismiss their experiences. But it is a very personal thing. I wish both sides would respect each other’s perspectives. I would never try to dissuade anyone from their religious beliefs and likewise, I appreciate those who don’t proselytize to me. 😔

Well put. I envy people their faith, especially at times like these. If it gives them peace, strength and comfort then good luck to them. I'm pleased to see what their belief does for them and can discuss things with them as long, as they don't start preaching to me.
