What contemporary references are there to Jesus outside of the Bible? [I Religion]

I know there are a couple of tentative paragraphs in Josephus. What else is there?

Of course the story of Jesus is the best attested in terms of historical documents of any ancient story. There are literally thousands of manuscripts pertaining to his life. You wouldn’t of course expect to see many outside sources but then there are no outside sources of Caesar’s Gaelic wars. , which have far less documentary evidence . That is the nature of ancient documents. The evidence for Jesus stands up far better than the evidence for Caesar in documentary terms

@Speedyman cancel that - completely misunderstood sorry 🙂

@SW-User I don’t know how that could be true. There are plenty of contemporary sources for Caesar. Writing of people that saw him first hand like Augustus for example. Nothing like this resists for Jesus really 🤷‍♂️. A first hand account of an eye witness.

We are talking about documentary evidence . There are plenty of people who saw Jesus about. Stacks of eyewitnesses. Far more than actually testify about Caesar@SW-User

@Speedyman I didnt think there was any eye witness evidence. So yes this is what I am asking about i suppose, contemporary first hand accounts from eye witlessness, can you point me in the right direction as to where to find these?

You find your eyewitness accounts in the gospels. They are put together by eyewitnesses. Luke tells us at the beginning of his gospel the years interviewed eyewitnesses and got their accounts about Jesus. Other Gospel writers are eyewitnesses. St Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15 that the risen Jesus was seen by over 500 eyewitnesses most of whom were alive at the time of writing. With all the details that have been proved correct in the gospels we can be sure that the Gospel writers were careful historians@SW-User

@Speedyman Many folk believe they have seen the Lock Ness Monster. They haven't. Same goes for the myth of Jesus.

Many people believe Jesus is a myth because they are totally ignorant about it. You are one of them@Entwistle
