I Will Not Assocaite Myself With Religion, Or Lack of Religion

Religious? I am not religious. I actually want atheists not to be negatively labeled, or believers/religious people not to be negatively labeled either.

I do respect authority which I feel is the main idea of most religious texts. Why I stepped away from being labeled my a belief system is this:

If I know a being has the greatest authority and power, has a reward to give me if I nod my head, and a possible punishment/painful consequence for shaking my head... then who in their right mind would reject him/her/it?

Tell me.
Who doesn’t like to be on good terms with their boss?
Which one of us doesn’t jump when our boss tells us we will get a reward IF we do this or that?
Who doesn’t stop themselves when an authority figure poses a threat/consequence we’d rather stay away from and don’t want?

Why? We are looking out for ourselves. The only love I see here is not for anything or anyone but ourselves. Of course all of us would want what we feel is the greatest benefit or pleasure, even if it is in the long run.

Here is the real question.
How do you treat someone with NO position of power?
How do you treat someone that you can’t get anything from or no reward whatsoever?
How do you treat someone that doesn’t scare you, that seems weak, timid, with nothing to offer?
How do you treat someone that feels burdensome to you because they displease your senses?
How do I treat them?

It’s hard not to be trapped in ourselves huh? Thinking we love a higher power or others when really we try to be friends with the ones that can get us places huh?

I was talking to someone the other day saying that I don’t agree with the idea of hell, if it exists I respect it, I respect authority but I disagree with it.

How can us human beings who didn’t primarily choose our existence, our body, our mind, the world, or what the world contains and were forced to adapt to, to remain alive be sent to hell when nothing... nothing was originally chosen by any of us?

Yes there are people who cause great pain and there are painful consequences for them here on earth, but have you ever asked yourself how they grew up? Have you ever noticed that no matter how rich, poor, or how much “love” you are given everyone feels conditionally wanted, worried about their performance and being accepted? How can we expect people to be nice, when they’ve never experienced someone being nice TO them? And let’s not act like saints here, when our own species of mankind willfully and consciously destroys plants and animals to fuel OUR survival not caring that they too are living things, or the pain animals feel, because we are biased towards our own survival and satisfaction.

When I look at a person I want to do anything to make them laugh, because I know... I know the pain maybe they have no words to describe... to be in a world where we are trapped, in a sense, to the conditions of those around us, with a body, mind, and instincts we too did not get to pick.

We are indeed a selfish species, but that is one of the factors that have gotten us this far. Though, that selfishness helped in our rise, it will also ultimately lead to our fall. Naturally, not every person is selfish, but we have all made such choices at one point or another. Though I agree with most of what you stated, I’m happy I existed in this world, even with all the pain and unpleasantness, because countless numbers never will.

You do looked fixed on the term of “authority”. There is an association of power with it but why.
“Author” of what is “created” is what I understand the importance of the word.
Who is the Author?
How do we know the valid Author with the capacity to use that power that is associated with authority?
I am not sure how serious you are on pursuing this conversation. You wrote a long post so you do seem very serious.

If we fail to categorize how do we arrive at truth then?
