Let's discuss evolution. Is knowledge of the origins of life necessary for the study of evolution? Can evolution be disproved?

Knowledge of the origin is not required, no. I don't think how you can disprove evolution on the information available.

@SW-User You certainly can't prove it with the present information available.

@hippyjoe1955 here we go! Go on then.

@hippyjoe1955 If I propose a hypothesis, I will then attempt to prove it wrong. If I can't, then I will accept the hypothesis. Therefore, I think we need to look at how we can disprove evolution. This can only be done by logical means, not rhetorical.

@Bushranger Look for causation. Having trouble with the English language?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Obviously I am. Could you instruct me, please?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger What is causation?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I asked for an explanation and you respond with a question?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger As a teacher that is how I get my students to learn. Asking a question causes the student to investigate on their own instead of simply absorbing what I tell them. If you want to know do some investigation.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I don't really have time for a Socratic discourse. I will rephrase my question. What is your interpretation of causation in the context of the current discussion?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Then move on and let the adults have a conversation. No one is forcing you to be here.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Except, perhaps that I started this conversation.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Plus, I asked what I believe to be a reasonable question, asking you for a definition. What is childish about that? Don't forget, I asked for it in a specific context.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger And you don't want to discuss or explore. Hmmmmm
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger I suggest you do some exploration on your own. It is obvious to me that you have not thought about your position at all and simply take it on 'faith' that 'all the crap you learned in high school' was correct.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 So asking for a definition, in an attempt to progress the discussion warrants your last comment?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger If you want a definition use a dictionary.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I could do that. Or I could rely on my current knowledge. But that could lead to a misunderstanding in the current context. Hence, I asked for your definition.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Your knowledge is stale dated. Count it a day lost when you don't learn something new.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I am asking for something new. I want you contextual definition.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger You don't need my editorializing. You need to do your own investigation and thinking. I know thinking is hard but just think of the reward when you break through the fog that is modern agenda science. All you have to lose is your blinders.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Thinking is easy when you have an open mind. I don't want you to editorialise, but to provide a contextual definition. Or are we going to engage in this little detour forever?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger You don't have an open mind. Your mind is made up and you think you are right. Try opening your mind as I did many years ago. You have nothing to lose but your slave mind.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Rhetoric.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushranger Another closed mind remains firmly shut. Pity. Try opening it for a second. The cobwebs are getting a bit thick.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Have I made offensive comments about your mind or education?
