Let's discuss evolution. Is knowledge of the origins of life necessary for the study of evolution? Can evolution be disproved?

Evolution can be shown to have holes in the Darwinian construct. ... but is of interest.

But, faith is available to fill in the gaps.

@questionWeaver Can you provide information about the gaps, please?
Every oil geologist has come across core samples that upset the whole evolution continuum.

The entire Rocky Mountains make no sense, if we accept species evolution as it has been mapped ... mathematically, the fossils are in the wrong sequences to have occurred with a rational progression.

@questionWeaver Mmm, geological upheaval?
@Bushranger no ... it is more than that ... we mapped and recreated the Rockies according to species evolution ... it became mathematically impossible for the Rockies to have faulted in the ways it appears ... and still retain any resemblance to specie evolution.

You just can not come up with a way for old then new then old then new then old then new fossils to have been deposited in a sequence that could have faulted and still retained volumetric integrity

@questionWeaver Can you direct me to a reference to support that statement?
@Bushranger most of that stuff is in oil company archives ... and not accessible... we were drilling for oil, not researching fossils.

We did get all the geologists together in Denver to look over the results... none were really surprised.

We did have one geologist who did go rouge and published a paper at his university.

That is likely available at the University of Syracuse.

Once again, this is not really new news in the oil patch.

You log enough wells and you will discover evolution oddities in most every coring.

Research the Williston Basin or the Basin under Michigan... we mathematically analyzed all the core samples for both ... over 100,000 samples.

The computer came back with 'impossible'.

@questionWeaver This would seem to be an anomaly compared with most fossil fields. I will attempt to find more information about it.
@Bushranger look at core matching in sedimentary and limestone stratigraphy ... There are classes and books on this.

The geologists I worked with just limited evolution theory to just within rock periods ... not across periods.

Thus, for example, within a 25 million year period ... fossils show evolution ... but not with the 50 million year periods before and after.

@questionWeaver Curious. Will definitely look into it.
