The guy I like says he can't commit to me

I love this guy a lot, truly, and I know he loves me, I really don't want to lose him, and he says he doesn't want to lose me either...

I don't know what to do, what do I say? Is there something I should tell him to help him? Should I do nothing?

__Context__

A while after I suddenly confessed to him he accepted to be my bf
But soon enough he started going dry/cold
Not msging me, avoiding calls, responding dryly, I though it was my fault, like I was the problem.
The day I was going to confront him was the day he ended up telling me how he felt before I could confront him.
He's been thinking about how he should spend time with me and call me, but he just doesn't.
I asked him if he wants to spend time with me because it'll make him happier or just me, his response was
"i say this with a pinch of salt because i have just felt emotionally dried for a bit"
"but more to make you happy more than myself"

After a while I told him he needed to make a decision, if we should take a break or keep dating
If we should wait till he's ready to commit or if we should keep dating and trying

After a day he eventually decided it's best to break up for now
I expected this response from him honestly, but it still stung

He loves me, I can tell he does, but at the same time I feel like he's doing the selfish thing of being lazy and not trying to overcome his commitment issues... (Which he admitted to having)

I don't want to lose him, yet I'm terrified I'm going to be waiting and waiting only for him to eventually run dry of love, and I'm honestly afraid I might run dry on love myself...
I overthink so much...
My ex cheated on me with his bff.. even tho he's straight and is currently in a straight relationship

And the current guy I like spends his time being on call 24/7 with his bff, I did tell him about my ex but I doubt he remembers since it was a passing comment that he half heard

It feels painful, seeing him call and msg his best friends
Yet I get nothing...

Yes this is an online relationship, no he's not a bad person (I know his other friends and they vouch for him being good)
Yes I'm worried about an online relationship BC my irl life is worse then anything, being online is my safe place, please don't shame me for this

I would say to him 4+5 and if he says 9 then he's a keeper

You deserve someone who thinks you are the world.
Tsuki · 16-17, F
@BabyLonia people like that are quite rare nowadays..
DangerGirl · 22-25, F
How old is he, and what are his reasons?
Tsuki · 16-17, F
@DangerGirl he's the same age as me and for his reasons it's just commitment issues
GoFish ·
sounds fishy maybe he has other love interest but something is off for sure
Tsuki · 16-17, F
@GoFish all of his close friends say he hasn't ever had a gf, even the friend who knew him since he was 8 agrees so I bought he's a player

@Tsuki oh
No shame but please move on. You’re wasting valuable time. If a person wants to be with you, they’ll find a way to be with you. This guy ain’t that person. Want more for yourself and close this chapter of your life.

@OlderSometimesWiser I don't know honestly...
@Tsuki Yes, I think you do know. Sometimes it’s just too painful to admit the truth to ourselves. You deserve better and that’s what you really need to believe.

Online relationships are not real.

@DangerGirl Lying isn’t polite either.
Px4545 · 31-35, M
@MrBrownstone why she would lie?
JupiterDreams · 31-35
@MrBrownstone I dunno, I met my boyfriend (now husband) through a dating app, we did long distance (different countries) until I moved to be with him

So, they can be real
