Should a couple get married if a child is conceived?

Shotgun weddings used to be common. The mailman back home was married that way. They had a couple kids The boy was only a couple years older than me. Sounded like they got along ok but were very poor.

Ideally a child needs two parents. Gender I dont see as critical. But one person simply cant keep up. It takes at least two, and ideally the old saying is right. "It takes a village to raise a child.."😷
