The doll won't divorce him for no reason and take his money, his property, his children, and he won't ever have to go to jail if he can't pay up.

@graphite Children a real person bore him before the doll came into his life, I’m guessing.

@bijouxbroussard Women file for about 80% of divorces and get the kids about 85% of the time, regardless of who's better qualified. He gets the bill and jail time if he can't pay up. More men are simply saying no thanks to marriage.
