Values are different all around the world. Many, not all, choose not to recognize it in the US. Or believe their values are better than the rest of the world.

In German there's a specific word that can be interpreted different ways... Weltanschauung...World outlook, worldview, fundamental cognitive orientation, or personal philosophy of human life, and so on.

This terminology few US born citizens can understand so when it comes to marriage they disregard the rest of the world. Their Weltanschauung is limited and confined to only what they wish to know, namely only their little corner of the world.

FYI I have never been married, and not by choice. 😔

My Weltanschauung is just far to different for most. I am far more inclusive rather than exclusive. Most women here, in a "so called" freedom of choice country, can't handle that Weltanschauung.
