I do like where I live ...

So when I hear things about New England and it's history and culture and people, I tend to pay attention.

Just recently, the peeps over at GoFundMe declared we New Englanders to be the most generous:

We occupy the top three positions on their per capita donations rankings, and four out of the top five, and six of the top ten.

Despite this love of where I'm from, my wife and I are discussing where we want to live the rest of our lives.

It's not a decision to be made immediately. I'm currently enrolled in another degree program so I couldn't move immediately anyway. And she has a successful accounting practice here.

But long term ... It's this where we want to call home? It's an open discussion.

Do you love where you live?

Would you ever pick up and move?

What would motivate such a decision?

Is climate a good enough reason?

Been all over the USA. Like my birth state of California the best.

@DeWayfarer Really? It's hard to comment on "California" (although I have in other replies here) because California is so many different things. Most of us non Californians think of SoCal when we hear California. I could never do SoCal.

@sarabee1995 You haven't visited the real SoCal then. I was born in the Mojave, raised in three other counties. The variety is tremendous, if you don't stay in the popular areas.

When I visited the other 40 states, I most certainly didn't just go to the popular areas.

I went to the Vedauwoo Wyoming areas, the Canyon lake Texas areas, the Estes park Colorado areas, the New port News Virginia areas, the Amana colony Iowa areas. And so forth.

There's a little bit of all of that in southern California.

Even the Northern California wineries.

I am a introvert BTW. I stay away from the popular areas. 🤣

@DeWayfarer Introverted myself as well (and married to an extrovert!!)

I will concede that all of my visits to Cali were for work with the Navy and so were centered around San Diego. I did venture out a bit to explore on my own but not very far.

@sarabee1995 You should have visited Anza borrego or even just Anza then. The borrego desert you can hear your heart beat.

And Cahuilla mountain is an experience by itself. I lived at its base for 13 years.

@DeWayfarer I did get out to the Anza-Borrego State Park and it was beautiful.

@sarabee1995 There's a certain area, where there is absolutely still air, in that borrego desert. And why you can hear your heart beat. It's definitely a worth while experience.

I know of no place in the Mojave like it. And that's a monstrous desert.
