Should you wear your engagement ring every day?

With the prevalence of street crime and mugging it really does make a difference to your chances of avoiding being a victim of crime.

Why People Are Wearing Their Engagements Rings Less.

You can wear your engagement ring daily, but it's wise to remove it for activities like showering, cleaning, exercising, or sleeping to prevent damage (scratches, loosened settings) and grime buildup, ensuring it stays sparkling; the decision ultimately depends on your lifestyle, comfort, and personal preference, with many people opting for a placeholder ring for rougher tasks.

When to take it off (for protection)
Household Chores: Cleaning with chemicals, cooking messy foods, or gardening can harm the ring or get it dirty.

Exercise: Gym equipment, heavy weights, sweat, and oils can scratch metal or loosen stones; consider a silicone ring instead.

Bathing/Showering: Soap film can dull the diamond, and rings can slip off wet fingers.
Sleeping: Can cause accidental damage or get caught on bedding.

Travel: Especially to unfamiliar places or for outdoor activities, to avoid loss or theft.

Daily wear: If your ring is sturdy and you're mindful of the above, wearing it daily is fine.

Special occasions: Some prefer to keep it safe and only wear it out for events or dates.

Key takeaway
It's your choice: There's no right or wrong way; it's about what makes you happy and preserves your ring's beauty.

Be mindful: Simple habits like removing it for specific tasks protect its sparkle and value long-term.

No, I never wore my wedding ring due to the work I did. I worked around electricity and I was quite often up on ladders.

Best to be safe. You never know what they`ll do to get it

@Degbeme Exactly! I put it in my safe

Some take it off if they are going to cheat

...okay, but you can't have it both ways here.

You and your wife hid your failed marriage from your children for over 10 years, only to reveal the truth about your marriage after the kids became adults.

And how you're expecting your kids to reveal the truth to you about how they really feel, after they'd been deceived by both parents about the status of their marriage?

That's why I said, "at least that's whey they tell you".

The truth is, you'll likely never know the truth about how your kids feel about it. Why would they tell you? Why would they give you the satisfaction of knowing the truth when you never extended truth to them?

@swirlie they knew about us really not getting along, but we didn’t get explosive and they still dont know about the cheating and they don’t need to know about that. Kids should never know about all the details of their parents relationship.

It would serve no purpose now to provide all the details to your kids at this stage of the game. Some words are best left un-said.
