Is marriage a dying institute?

What do you think? Yes or no?

It's been in decline for a number of years.
The reasons for it are numerous.
Women don't have to marry to secure their status anymore.
Jobs are no longer for life which makes planning your life difficult.
For many, work and money earning is vital for survival, but it also puts folk under a lot of strain. Especially with regard to money worries.
All sorts of stuff i suspect.
@Picklebobble2: beautifully, well said and spoken. Thank you for putting the "icing on the cake" :)
@Picklebobble2: I was thinking too based on the Bible, that if only men loved and treated wives like their own bodies and wives did the same most marriages would thrive and be happy. No man in his right mind would kick, beat, slap, and abuse his ownself. Husband and wife equals one (Genesis 2:24). If a man hurts his wife, he in essence is really hurting himself and vice versa

@seotelkniwt: thats kind of the thing today. religion and morality have been in decline for years. people have gotten to be very selfish.

It's not dying. It's changing. The definition is broadening and becoming more flexible.

It's not the first time, and it won't be the last.
@multiversality: the Bible is an excellent, accurate guide for revealing the existence of God and an excellent, practical guide that shows what a marriage should be like according to God's standards and not human viewpoints.

@seotelkniwt: The problem with that argument is that only Christians will agree with you, and there are a LOT of us out here in the world that are NOT Christians. You are perfectly welcome to believe in the Bible if you want, but you can't prove that it has any actual authority outside of your faith, and you can't expect us to think as highly of it as you do. So your argument doesn't hold water in the real world.
@seotelkniwt: That is your "Human" view point.

seems so. more people are out for flings than relationships even people in relationships are fooling around. its just sad. no commitments.
Yes @theowl it is a very sad situation. Being legally married is definitely on the decline. And many marriages are not taken seriously. The old adage: "For better or worse" are just words that go in one ear and out the other. Thank you for your response.

No considering 9 out if 10 people will get married in their lifetime
9 out of 10 people will get married in their lifetime? Most likely for the wrong reason(s).

I agree with you that marriage IS a legal contract between a man and a woman, but it IS also a divine institution sanctioned by God.

@seotelkniwt: Only for those whose religion sees it that way. Not for the rest of us.
@multiversality: its not about how one's religion see's marriage, it's about how God sees and views marriage, its what the Bible says about marriage and not what humans think or believe the way marriage should be.
