Was your parents marriage a long or successful one?

Divorce seems to be such a common issue in so many societies because people don’t really think about the whole situation and relationships in general. Everything is so “throw away “ and that includes marriage even after vows have been made.

My parents are from a mixed bag, my father is an Italian Roman Catholic whereas my mother who is Moldovan is Romanian Orthodox. I have been exposed to both traditions and I am more Orthodox than Catholic.

Religion can develop into a catalyst for change in a marriage relationship and it can erode the love romance of the relationship. This isn’t the case for my parents I would add!

My parents were married in 1949 and remained happily married until their deaths in 2018 and 2019.

As for religion, they were both nominally Catholic, but neither was particularly observant. My mother raised my sister and I as Catholic and took us to church on Sundays, but once we were grown she stopped going herself.
