Has life gotten too easy for marriage?

Back when people farmed, raised livestock, fought the elements to raise food, stay warm, and be cared for in old age it was imperative to have a family. Now that is all gone. Take away the desire for children and what's left?

Yes. Marriage was only created as a child bearing contract. Women now also don’t need to secure a man to survive.

It's still hard. It was for me. I had to work nights and holidays so I could pick my son up from school and help him with his homework. We had no one to pick him up and watch him. And daycare care was expensive.

No I still need family. Once they're gone, you just fall apart.

@AlchemyFox yeah, it was quite a change when my son went off to college and i wasn't a single dad anymore.

No marriage is harder now more than ever.
I don't think it's gotten easier .
Inflation is through the roof, house prices have gone beyond ridiculous and this generation is being called the 'landlord' generation .

It's not that life is too easy for marriage or kids, it's that it's too hard for marriage or kids.

Trying to reach that threshold where you feel you are set up for family and can support a partner is almost an impossibility for many now .
