What have you done

"The experts" always say marriage is about compromise, and changing/accommodating your spouse. I want to know what are some things you changed about yourself, or done/do for your spouse that you didn't do before you got married. I'll start. My fiancé prefers that I get my nails done at a salon. Normally I would just paint them myself, but would either do a solid color or French tips, or something "basic", where as the ladies at the salon can do much more. So each week on Friday during my lunch break I go get a mani/pedi.

For my personality type, I’m very ‘take me as I am’, so what you sign up for is what you get 😅
Meeting my partner was the nudge to dress up rockabilly though. I always thought the whole vibe was really cool, but there’s no rockabilly scene where I live. Going out, having fun with John gives me an excuse to dress up :)

Side note though..
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with what you described about your nails as long as you’re ok with it, but that’s not a marriage & family/relationship counselor stance. In a nutshell, in MF/relationship counseling they try to help people remember/learn how to be considerate, respectful, and compassionate to each other, not that you should change ‘for your spouse’.
(disclaimer: unless they have a habit of harming others mentally/ physically/ emotionally/ sexually/ financially etc.. then yes.. they should definitely work on changing, but even then you should change simply because it’s not ok to hurt people heh)

I do agree it’s human nature to adapt a bit to each other to an extent when you’re integrated.

That's a stupid saying. It's not about compromise, but about accommodation and adjustment. A good marriage will give the couple 48 hours a day, but a bad coupling can end up with not even 12 hours a day ...

Changed my hair style and learned to eat things she liked that I had never eaten before.

@PTCdresser57 My husband has done the same. He barely ate vegetables before he met me but now rats most things.

Who are those so called experts in the first place ?

@in10RjFox I always wonder about the private life of those "experts". Kind of like a fat doctor giving you diet advice.

@revenant absolutely.. a childless PhD advising parents how to raise children..

@in10RjFox exactly
