Do you think feminism is responsible for the decreasing interest in marriage?

There's this study that said 25% of millennial men will be single in their 50s and a larger number currently have little to no interest in getting marred

Nothing to do with femenism. It's a sociological issue.
More to do with practicalities of life I would have thought !
The way we live our lives is stupid !
Time was when everybody worked Monday to Friday. 8-5. Hour off for lunch. Week-ends at home with the family.
Chances are you probably met somebody through work or family. Spent time getting to really know them (usually referred to as courting) then married them in your late 20's etc.
But we've been conditioned by government to have ideals. Goals. Certain landmarks in life that we're supposed to hit ! Steady job; marriage; 2.4 children; steady promotion; buy your own home; blah blah blah..
Unfortunately, the nature of work has changed and consumed us !
Gone are the days of working your way through company hierarchy. These days it's grab what you can before the company folds !
Companies have no interest in their employees other than to make sure there's a steady turnover of them.
Pay is at it's lowest for thirty years. Temporary jobs outnumber permenant jobs 4-1.
And gone are the jobs for life !
Mining; engineering; teaching; manufactuing; etc all replaced with call centres; online virtual shopping and endless employment agencies because cmpanies can't even be bothered to hire their own staff !!!!
This leads to less being saved for retirement. Less being spent on luxuries. Car; holiday; home improvement etc.
If all THAT didnt kill the desire for marriage. The fact that the 'age of automation' that was promised us back in the '60's. never materialised !
The fact that rents and house prices have gotten SO out of control no one can be assured of actually being ABLE to pay off their mortgage anymore ?
And the sad sorry fact that governments since. The '70's have screwed around with pension provision so that we now have to work longer than EVER just to cover living expense. You can see why marriage isn't likely to be popular again any time soon.

You really have explained this very well. The culture has changed, so it's no longer recognizable to us who lived through those days. I feel a bit alien living in contemporary life. I don't like it, so I avoid it.

@Carissimi: I just feel like I've been lied to !
I mean, I went to school. Never got into trouble. I've been on 'government schemes' whenever I've been out of work.
Always paid my taxes and covered for folks at work when they've been sick.
Haven't had a sick day in twelve years !!!
And yet I can't afford to buy my own home, car, holiday, etc etc.
I know I'll probably die at work since I'll never be able to retire.
Who would want to marry a guy like that ?

@Picklebobble: Did you notice the age of the person who asked the question, just out of school and another example of a failed education system
Picklebobble · 56-60, M
@nedkelly: I did notice. But to be fair, he didnt say it was HIS view.
And THAT'S half the problem with life today !
You get TOLD what their version of the truth is and if you don't conform, YOU'RE the problem !

@Picklebobble: he should have shown a link to the study

@Picklebobble: The so called "American Dream" is hogwash. I was fortunate for a while in that I did manage to buy my dream home, but now that's gone, and I don't even have health care, but I'm fortunate to have a car.

Those who actually achieve the American Dream can lose it at any time. Here today and gone tomorrow.

I'm just thankful for what I do have, but I understand your thinking about finding a partner, although they say there is someone for everyone. It does seem unfair for many people.

@Carissimi: I feel for you. I really do !! The U.S. healthcare thing is totally at odd with the U.S. land of the free ideal !!
The number of insurance carriers alone ought to necessitate sponsored hospitals and doctors !
I mean, why put money in the pocket of a middle man if they don't give you what you need ?
It's ridiculous.!

@Picklebobble: It really is a mess.
