why did people think this is an ideal world

The Israeli kibbutz movement ( collective farms ) they are socialist institutions and in their early years they were so socialist I do not understand how people thought it was the ideal lifestyle.

Most of them were founded after WW1 but the idea back then was equality and the kibbutz was in charge of their life.

Up until the 50s it was not permitted to have a kettle in your apartment because if you were drinking tea you were not working or socialising with other members.

If somebody from outside the kibbutz wanted to buy you a present before you could have it the kibbutz must decide if you should be allowed to have it and if somebody gave you money it would probably be taken and given to the kibbutz

Nobody earned any money they all just worked on the kibbutz and all their needs were provided for them.

Members did not even own their own clothes they came from a central store so they clothes even were all shared because you got your clothes from the store, when they were dirty you took them to the laundry and were given some new clothes.

They ate their meals in a communal dining hall and they sat on benches rather than chairs to create feeling of equality.

Marriage was not encouraged if you wanted to marry somebody you go tell the kibbits management you want an apartment for 2 people and so you were allocated a new apartment no need for a formal wedding.

Children were considered property of the kibbutz so when women had children they were eventually taken and raised by nurses and carers in childrens homes and the parents would visit them for a few hours each day.
If a child was given a gift it must be shared with all the other children.

Over the years the kibbutz modernised and today they are still collectives but the hardcore socialist lifestyle is gone and people get paid according to skills etc but back in the peak of the extreme socialist lifestyle but I just cannot understand how at the peak people wanted to live this kind of life where yo have no individuality and your not allowed to own things without permission and even your children are property of the kibbutz.

The people chose this lifestyle and they were all equals and all had a vote on all policies so they obviously wanted to keep things that way.
