I Know Jealousy Stems From Insecurity
Why does jealousy exist?
Let’s look at the basic needs for survival: food, water, and shelter. Reason number one why jealousy exists is limited resources that everyone is wanting to secure.
Reason number two is attention, for some reason we are instinctually aroused by praise and attention, especially the praise and attention that we feel is hard to get from someone. If you look at animals that thrive in packs, they want that acceptance in their social groups to increase their chances of survival and sustenance.
Reason number three is desire for a noun-a person, place, thing, or idea that we want to be real and ours. These desires can be random. You can see children fighting for the same ball when there are multiple of other balls that look the same. If we have an idea and someone is a threat to our idea being monopolized (if that is the intention) there is animosity between us and the other person. The same goes for places and people, we want to own and posses and desires are never quenched unless we train our minds.
Solution to jealousy:
This is a hypothetical solution but if the earth was big enough, and with enough resources where everyone could live alone, I think that jealousy would decrease greatly. A lot of people depend on their partner to pay bills and raise children. Bringing kids up is very hard and a person would want help from another. So when a partner is threatening to leave and a person can’t pay their bills and now has to raise their children alone it would raise their level of jealousy to anyone posing a threat to their comfort level of security. Consequently, I do believe that if everyone had the ability to live alone, with enough resources, jealousy would decrease, and would only remain in the section of random desires for a noun (person, place, thing, or idea).
Besides this if we took the time to train our minds to detach from the validation from others to feel worthy, as a sort of mental gymnastics per say, it can also greatly decrease jealousy in an individual.
