It must be a cultural thing because at least where I live the "taboo" just is not there and it is about as silly as making a big deal about dating a blonde. And logically speaking the taboo is the only thing that makes it noteworthy which to me speaks to something troubling especially when you look into the roots of this particular phenomenon.
