I Think Interracial Relationships Are Great

I guess I don't see why they're automatically "great."
They're no different than any other relationship.
Maybe it's a different scene in Germany. I imagine it's different in most all countries. I know when I've traveled with a woman of a different race the "looks" come in some places but not others. SO bizarre getting looks over something you don't think twice about though. Well, we'll ALL be blended in to one human race eventually. Kind of wish I'd be around to see that.

@Fairy: But that is where I disagree with you Fairy. Why can't something good be a standalone thing? Why does it have to mean that this good is happening only because something was bad before?
I mean why can't a community be perfect already and yet the point that is being made is Diversity is good. It doesn't mean anything was bad with it before, but diversity is only giving it added dimensions. See it is minor view point, but you have to be willing to accept that something good doesn't mean the existing status quo is bad. Why do you see it 'colour' injection!? Why can't you see it as "more options" ?

I don't think you're a right wing nationalist. What I think is that you've lived your whole life in an all, or almost all white society, have never had any kind of meaningful relationship with a person of another color and identify very closely with your own race. It matters to you. I mean, why else would you respond the way you did with your initial comment? You felt it necessary to defend the white race. That just doesn't compute with me.

I'm done now. I don't like people who get so defensive they think it's ok to spew insults. That's child's play. I'm a grown man.

@Sal: Great point! And that really is the tragedy isn't it ? The fact that diversity seems to be needed to be supported and egged on instead of it being a normal affair. I guess it speaks to the state of affairs "before" vs the state of affairs now. Things are improving and hopefully the world you describe in becomes a reality soon. Fingers crossed. :)

@belly. I hear you. That's why I love this phrase so much. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." There's usually a reason behind people's positions. And when it comes to race, I've typically seen a lack of exposure as the biggest reason for strong stances on the issue.

@Sal: Perfectly agree! You hit the nail on the head. Lack of travel / Exposure often leads to these bottled up views of anything that seems to change the current status quo. The feeling of being "threatened".
