How to Love a Man Who Has Never Been Truly Loved
By Shavon D. Bethel
Anyone who has not come from a loving family often struggles to feel love. Having someone in your life means opening up to them, which can provide a sense of direction on your journey. A man takes pride in wanting to love and be loved. Can you love him? He is young, handsome, and attractive physique, and you wonder if he’s single. A painful experience from his past has left him emotionally scared. This heartbreak has prevented him from truly embracing love. He lives alone and has never experienced genuine love from anyone, starting with the affection he was denied as a child. As I spent more time with him, I learned more about this person who was close to me. I give him hope and encourage him to open his heart to love—a journey he must embark on with optimism. Having never experienced love before, the absence of connection from his past relationships has left him feeling uninspired and without faith in love.
His heart is reluctant to engage with these emotions. His thoughts are silent, and he prefers solitude as a way to manage his feelings. This experience of love and intimacy feels overwhelming to him, and he wants to escape from it. I don’t fault him for this; it stems from a lack of vulnerability, not effort. If a man has never been truly loved or had his soul touched by genuine love, he must learn to open up to it. One must be willing to embrace faithful love, to be vulnerable to the potential pain that comes with it, and to discover oneself through love. A history of failed relationships doesn’t define a man’s experience of true love. After all, love begins at home. He doesn’t feel true love and questions his ability to love in return. Love does not come as quickly to everyone as it might to others. He believes he lives better alone and seeks solitude to feel safe. There is no risk of hurt, disappointment, or confusion about love when he is alone. He needs patience to gain the courage to embark on this journey of love. To him, lasting love feels nonexistent.
Teach a man what love is truly about. Simple acts of love can enlighten his mind. Quiet, patient, and uncomplicated moments reveal the essence of true love. He is missing this aspect of life; he has no genuine love or understanding of what it feels like. He has confused lust with true love. Someone who holds the key to his heart wants to be with him, but he doesn’t recognize it. Self-doubt clouds his mind and leads to disbelief in true love. Any love he experiences is worth holding onto, yet it shouldn’t feel complicated or painful; he doesn’t realize that this is not true love.
The fear of love may stem from insecurities; jealousy is not true love. To love and show a man the meaning of true love, especially if he has never experienced it, requires courage and mutual understanding. This is unfamiliar territory for him. He may feel disoriented in these new waters, and it is natural for him not to understand what true love is. His feelings may be confusing, and patience and passion in a loving relationship are essential for both partners who desire love. The best things take time. Finding love requires patience. As love gradually seeps into his being, he becomes empowered, and each day, he may feel as though he’s on cloud nine. Open your heart and soul to him; he has never been truly loved. You may love him long before he learns to love you in return. While he has loved others, he has never been in love. In time, he will begin to open up to you. He will remove the barriers he has built around his heart and learn to love freely. Understand that some men are cautious with their hearts. They may struggle to reciprocate no matter how much love you show them. It can be painful, but some men find it difficult to feel love that they have never experienced before.
If you genuinely want to love him, you must commit to him and remain faithful to each other. Show him that you want to experience love together. This means being willing to see all sides of him, both the good and the bad, and accepting him without reservations. Support him and let him know he can count on you. Giving up should not be an option. True love involves understanding him and embracing his unique journey. Support him in his choices; even if he makes mistakes, he will learn from them. Your love should be unconditional, making you his biggest supporter. In return, teach him about true love, and he will teach you about life. Love flourishes when shared with someone special. Be his best friend, his partner, and his supporter. Choosing to love a man who has never truly felt loved is a significant experience you desire with all your heart. It’s a journey to embark on together, an adventure that centers on both of you. This experience is unique, magical, fascinating, and unforgettable.
