A phrase within a paradox? or something?

"Everyman should be single and every woman should be married". A phrase coined by my grandmother and quoted this paradox to me before she died. Of course she was just making a point about something..but what? To this day I have struggled with this conundrum. I wonder what she meant? Maybe something psychological ??????

In my opinion what she meant was this...
A man being single means he only has a single woman in his heart and mind ... every woman should be married means every woman should have a life partner....
@Amor69Fati good answer

If every man remains single and every woman married,then with whom have the women married?
Babaloo64 · 41-45, M
@Zenbra the interpretation is men want to show themselves single even when married
@Babaloo64 probably, yes..mdr

@Zenbra thanks

The women are all married to each other, but men are neither married to men nor women.

Unless there is an odd number of women.
@JoyfulSilence very good. I like that one

@Zenbra

I wonder who the single woman is?
I say
Every Man and Woman needs a wife. and those wives need wives too

@Zenbra I thought she might be a lesbian or a feminist... maybe both? Because in some instances you can get both.
