Pink is right, it can go both ways. It really depends on how open and authentic you both are when you're online (actually this is true offline as well). It's just as easy to fall in love with a fantasy offline if the person isn't being honest.

What if....falling in love with someone is basically a fantasy we make up in our heads to escape reality? 0.o
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
It is absolutely possible, but like any relationship it depends on the people involved.
[c=#BF0080]I think it can be both.. depending on the circumstances.[/c]

Anything is posible
On or off line doesn't change it

yes, and yes.

I have one particularly close and important friend who I met online. We have been close for literally almost 10 years... we even met in person once (in Rome of all places!), avoided all physical intimacy for lots of reasons, but cemented a virtual intimacy with a more physically real one.

I have also indulged in escapist fantasy using online friends. I have one in particular who meets me there quite adeptly. We have been in lust and are in fact pretty good friends too, I can't say we are properly "in love" or ever will be... yet...

The virtual is a very strange and wonderful place. I am, in my own right, a bit of a pioneer. I once printed my business cards with the following title: Ingenue en Virtu, Engineer en Verite. If anyone got it, they didn't say anything to me about it! I finally dropped it as inside jokes aren't very funny if they are "too inside".

Yes, it´s possible. I´ve found my soulmate on EP about one year ago and we have daily contact - despite our distance and despite 8 hours time difference. We are sharing everything together - our deepest emotions.

I think we can perceived people in the wrong way online, but it isn't impossible to fall in love with a persona. In the end, it's only by meeting up to find out if the real chemistry is there for love to stand a chance at all.

Falling in love online, or in the 'real world' are no different.

It is a shared fantasy, and reality includes fantasies.

@ChampagneOnIce:
I agree with you. It depends upon those involved.
Some find true love while some have a crush which they interpret as love.

Yes it's possible. I've had a online relationship with someone for over a year and a half. We talk everyday and we get along great.
Anything is possible, even the combination of reality and fantasy.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
Very possible. But it's a bad idea...for so many reasons.
SweetDreamsRubi · 31-35, F
[c=#800055]might be fantasy and might not. But the company is always nice. [/c]

It's both.it can happen or not.depends.

Possible for sure, very ill advised though

Love is strange, so I say yes
HatsOnFrogs · 22-25, M
I guess. It really depends on what love is to you. Again, its probably closer to a crush than love, where were filling in the blanks with our own desires, rather than loving whats there.
UnicornSparkles, this is true, and it scares me. I am willing, however, to be open to whomever he is. I've seen enough of him to know that I love him.
I thought so, at one time, but now I'm not so sure...
I'm scared, but he says he loves me.
Yes it is very possible.

I fell in love with Cyr, but it is a fantasy and I acknowledge that.
