I used to. but now... not so much

Sujbftihe · F
Of course I believe in true love. I live with it
SW-User
@SW-User I hope you can regain your belief in it. It believes in you.
SW-User
@PhoenixPhail I appreciate that

Yes I do, well I believe in love. I’m not sure how to define if there’s a difference between ‘true’ love and just love. I wish I could be more eloquent!
I believe in love but I do not believe in soul mates.
SW-User
Yes. I do, with right people.
I do believe in true love, but trying to convince someone it exists would be futile. True love isn't an idea, which is all I could give you. The only way to know it's real, is to experience it for yourself. Once you have, you'll believe in it.
@liltoasty I do all the time. But not necessarily with another person.
liltoasty · 22-25, F
@PhoenixPhail not necessarily with another person?
@liltoasty To me, the only true love is unconditional love. I experience unconditional love all the time. I have it for everyone. A lot of the time, my feelings get in the way, but at my core, that's what I am. I believe that's what we ALL are. If we were stripped of our identities, true love is what would remain. It's our essence.

I don't because humans rely on some sort of mutualism/incentive that drives them. That's how our brains work. In other words: Dopamine.
Then there are philosophical concepts, for instance Nietzsche's concept of egocentricity being innate to humans. That it is our unconscious survival trait, and how all our thoughts, emotions and actions stem from it.
I don't think true love can exist without true altruism. And true altruism just isn't possible for human survival. Every connection humans have in a community is basically an unspoken contract. This is also why reciprocation is important in all interpersonal relationships. The fact that in the end we do just care about our own selves. It doesn't mean it's evil, but just saying that even our kindness is selfish.
But deep down I'm still sort of conflicted. I wonder if this whole rant is pessimist or realist thinking.

Yes I do. If you don't believe in it, then you don't believe it... that's your truth. If it's in your life experience to know true love then no convincing will be neccessary.
@StarLily Thanks, Love. 🌹

@PhoenixPhail You're welcome.🙂
@StarLily 😊

*tries to compute it*

I do. Love is the only reason to live.
liltoasty · 22-25, F
@SW-User ok but that doesn't mean there is true love
SW-User
@liltoasty no it doesn’t but I’m a romantic bich😡
@SW-User Indeed. 😊
Moonpenny · F
Yes, it can be lasting or fleeting, but it's real.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I do! Sometimes it doesn't last.
@SweetMae True love is the only thing that lasts. Conditional love fades with the conditions.
sally1981 · 41-45, F
Yes I do but I have not found it yet.
Dwari · M
It's a belief... you can't rationalize it. Like why does someone believe in God?

I just think true love is like finding a comfortable companionship as opposed to grandiose romance.
JP1119 · 36-40, M
What is “true love”? You mean you don’t believe people love each other?
Elessar · 26-30, M
I don't much either, but here to see what people say 👀
